Tomorrow you will have the chance to shape the future of Willoughby by electing our 2nd popularly elected Mayor. As our first popularly elected Mayor, Pat Reilly has left some enormous shoes to fill. I’m proud to be running for this prestigious role, and I know that I can deliver on my promise of a better future for Willoughby.
I’ve lived in Willoughby City for the last 18 years, and I know the challenges faced throughout the community – not just in my suburb of Castlecrag. I know people are concerned about rates, which is why I stopped the proposed rate increase. I know that parents, and kids, are sick of having games called off due to weather, which is why I’m investigating how we keep our sporting facilities available year round – rain or shine.
I am also keenly aware of the traffic issues in our city. They aren’t caused by one single factor, and there is no silver bullet to fix them. What we can do is work together with the state government to make sure that Willoughby City gets its fair share of funding to improve our roads, improve our parking and make it easier to get around.
In my 5 years on council, I’ve proudly supported, and opposed, certain plans for Willoughby. I don’t jump on bandwagons, and I’m not afraid to be a dissenting voice. What is important to me is getting the right result for the entire community – not just those people who vote for me.
You have a choice to make on Saturday, but more importantly, you have the right to make a choice. So please, tell your friends and family to make sure they vote. I appreciate that you or they might not vote for me, but if everyone comes out and has their say, we know that the community will receive their candidate for Mayor, and not just the candidate of those who cam to the booth.
If you would like to meet to discuss what is important to you, or would like to have a chat, please give me a call on 9967 4346.
