Smoke Free Policy

You may be aware the Willoughby City Council introduced a comprehensive outdoor smoke free policy late last year. The implementation of the policy will be staged, and some of you may have already seen the “no smoking” signs at local cafe’s and playgrounds.

The Heart Foundation has released a comprehensive report of the response of Councils to an outdoor smoke free environment. See www.heartfoundation.org.au/smokefree
The report details each individual Council in NSW and their current policy. WCC is one of the 74% of Metro Councils that has a policy.
The next step is to lobby State Government for the introduction of a blanket ban of outdoor smoking in alfresco dining areas, playgrounds and sporting fields. Queensland has already introduced this legislation. If you are interested please write to your local Member of Parliament.
