Last night I met informally with the Environment Minister of Victoria, Ryan Smith.
Having been in the job for only 49 days, the Minister is faced with a State that is now one third under water. So, how are they coping is the obvious question. Surprisingly well is the answer. Mr Smith said that ironically the devastating bush fires Victoria had to deal with has meant that a complete overhaul of emergency response procedures was undertaken over the past year. It is reassuring to know that there has been some good as a result of the bush fires.
